Established 2021

Studio for Collaboration, Research and Design is based in Baltimore, MD & Brooklyn, New York City - working internationally with organizations, civic leaders, and businesses to co-create strategies that make cities healthier, joyful, and more resilient.

Our work starts with trust-building and a deep understanding of the lived experiences that are central to the community. We center our process on people—their stories, needs, and aspirations. By combining strategy, design, and facilitation, we partner with visionary organizations to translate their essential work into tangible, fundable, and lasting impact. What ties it all together is our conviction that change is strongest when it grows from the inside out.

Our team is comprised of trained design strategists, historians, placemaking professionals, and researchers. The cross-section of our global education allows us to bring international perspectives into place-based projects, enriching our approach and solutions.

As thought leaders in our fields, we are actively teaching, researching, and presenting across the U.S. We believe our work must extend beyond client projects to truly advance equitable design. That’s why we create and lead platforms that challenge conventional thinking and build a stronger community of practice, shaping our field, not just practicing in it.

Our Process

Our approach is collaborative, hands-on, and grounded in listening.

1

Grounded

We start with lived experience — listening closely to people, their daily lives, and their hopes for the future.

2

Collaborative

We design with communities, recognizing that they are the true experts on their context.

3

Holistic

We see organizations and places as living systems, where people, context, and relationships are deeply connected.

4

Empowering

We focus on building capacity along the way, so change is not just felt in the moment but sustained over time.

5

Purposeful

Every action is intentional. We translate our shared clarity into tangible interventions that create lasting, meaningful impact.
